Rose E. Young

Aunt Rose lived and died with grace. This is the way I think of her: she made the best of everything...

Sending my most sincere condolences to the Young family on the passing of Mrs. Young. She was such a bright light in this world. It was always so comforting to see her in the neighborhood and at church. I would always look for her when driving up the hill to go to my parents' house, and while it will be sad the next time I drive by to know that she is no longer there, we all know that she is in a much better place watching over us all. God bless her!

Rose was a bright light. Her love for humanity was evidenced by her sparkling personality. I remember the first time I met her and her husband some thirty years ago, at my house (with Marian) where she had her first bagels and a typical NYC brunch menu. What a delight she was. Even with the sadness of Rose's passing, I have only happy memories of her.

What can I possibly write about Aunt Rose that would begin to accurately portray what a special person she was to me? She was like a second grandmother, one who lived just down the road. I remember the many thanksgiving celebrations at her house. Hide and seek with my cousins through connected bedrooms and a basement full of wonders. The magnificent food she cooked. The superb pies. Her tireless work at St. John's and the stories she told about that

For a reason I never quite understood but always appreciated, any time we got together, she would pull me aside to talk theology and the church, and I just remember seeing the gleam in her eyes as we shared those quiet moments together. I'm not sure if she did the same thing with everyone, likely she did, but I remember feeling so special, like she had invited me into a world that was ours alone. Thank you, Aunt Rose. Thank you so much. You will be dearly, dearly missed, by me, and by all those whose lives you touched.

Loved you so much! I have such wonderful memories-- only person who could convince me that if I jumped off your dock into the water, I would come up. I will miss the fond memmories we had in Mahopac and to a great cook. I am sure my mother was pacing the clouds waiting for you. You will be greatly missed. Forever Young
