Robert F. Torrey, 71, of Mahopac, NY died in his home on August 29, 2012 surrounded by his family. Bob was born in Queens on December 13, 1940 to Raymond and Abigail Torrey. He is survived by his adoring wife of 41 years Eileen, his three sons, Kevin and his wife Jennifer, Robert and his wife Lori, and Brian and his wife Christine, as well as his five grandchildren, Connor, Brayden, Matthew, Carson, and Kathryn, and his brothers Raymond and William. He was predeceased by his son Jimmy, and his brother James.
He was a member of the New York City Fire Department for 36 years before his retirement as a Battalion Chief in 1998. A long time member of the Mohansic Golf League, his happiest times, aside from those spent with his family, occurred on the golf course.
Visiting will be held on Saturday and Sunday from 2-6 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac with interment to follow at Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Brewster, NY. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. John's Food Pantry, C/O Deacon Bernie Moran, 225 East Lake Blvd., Mahopac, NY 10541.
