Alan Frederick Schneider, a long time resident of Putnam County, died peacefully in his sleep September 18, 2012. He was 63 years old. Mr. Schneider was born in New York City on June 17, 1949, the son of Louis & Mae Schneider. He worked as a detective for Westchester County while building up his accounting practice. Through his years in Putnam County, he was active in many community organizations. His desire to help others less fortunate showed in all the ways he gave to so many - whether volunteering his time, donating to causes he believed in, or just lending a hand to someone in need. But his greatest passion was always his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his daughter Lauren & son-in-law Stu Barbara of Connecticut, daughter Beth & son-in-law Joe Ceraulo, son Jon & daughter-in-law Karly, and daughter Missy & son-in-law Chris all of New York. He will be forever missed by his 9 grandchildren Josie, Remy, Paige, Joshua, Sophia, Avery, Isabella, Peyton and Jackson. In addition, Mr. Schneider leaves a void in his dear friend, Helayne Scheier's heart. The Schneider family will be receiving friends and family at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home on Friday September 21, 2012 from 11 am – 12:30 pm. A Memorial Service will follow at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Putnam County Children's Committee, PO Box 187, Carmel, NY 10512.
