William J. Wagers Obituary

Bill - So sorry to hear of your passing. It was a total shock when Michael told us. We have such good memories with you and Joan - the cruise, wedding in Bermuda, parties at Joe's house. It was such a pleasure knowing you and your happy nature - we always looked forward to seeing you. Joan, please know that we are sending your our prayers and are thinking of you the the "kids". We and everyone who knew Bill will miss him. You are in our prayers.

You were a great neibor and friend. When I was a kid the neiborhood gang and I would play wiffle ball in your upper lot, eating pears from your pear trees when we got hungry. As a tennager I would often cross paths with you in the woods while bowhunting, chasing deer around the "mud pond". Or chasing trout in the East Branch. I have a lot of fond memories of those days, and you are included in them.

Fast forward many years and I think about the steelhead fishing trips with the boys. The one sunny cold day in December 2000 was one of the best days ever up there, and you were right smack in the middle of it.

Nobody in Croton Falls filled me in about the SCAB team that made up Robs girlfriends like you!! The first encouter I had with Billy (our pet name) was when he came through the doors of Croton Falls McCauley house in a camo jumpsuit. He had been out hunting (sleeping) in the woods all morning. He preceeded to unzip his camo and reveal a tuxedo that he was wearing for thanksgiving. Most of all Bill and I shared our love

We met every summer the last week of June and compared tans. The one year we weren't there he left me the greatest sound ever on my voicemail which was the sound of him opening a beer on East Beach.... Billy I promise to Keep your spirit alive on East Beach. It was truly our special place. You will always be in my heart and for the record I am prettier than CHRISSY!!!, Love You Always My East Beach Tan Partner.

We are so saddened by this news. Please know we are sendiing comforting thoughts to your family. Bill was fun to know and always added a lot of fun to every situation.

Mr. Wagers, you made my Bald Head memories the best I've ever had. Bald Head will never be the same without you, but I will always remember you everyday and how you always made me laugh and smile. I'll miss you Mr. Wagers.

Bill, You made me feel like I was the only one. All those special moments we had dancing under the moonlight of the Shoals Club, the long walks to the top of Old Baldy, and the long strolls on the sands of East beach. Could it get any better? I think not. Too bad we loved our wives so much, we could have been so happy together. You will be dearly missed my friend.
