Wayne Stanley Barr of Shallotte, NC and formerly of Mahopac, NY passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the age of 80. He was born in Grand Rapids, MI on November 2, 1936, the son of Garrett and Anne Cerami Barr.

Wayne worked for Metro North Railroad as an electrician for 40 years until his retirement. His love was the volunteer fire service. He served as chief of the Mahopac, NY Volunteer Fire Department and as a training officer with the Brewster, NY Volunteer Fire Department. He also was a NY State Fire Instructor. After his retirement, he moved to Shallotte in Brunswick County, NC and became the Civie Town Fire Chief.

Wayne married Angelina Fantone on November 2, 1957. Angelina passed away on August 22, 2011 after almost 55 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughters, Deb Kirk and fiancé Dave Coniber of Woodbridge, VA and Diana Barr of Catskill, NY, his sister, Judy Antico and husband Peter of Falls Church, VA,; three grandchildren, Jennifer Doughton and husband David, Patrick Kirk and Carissa Barr, his great grandchild, Chase Doughton and a special pet "Dusty".

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 from 11 am to 1 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place at 1 pm following the memorial visitation.

Contributions in memory of Wayne may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
