Sylvia Polito of Mahopac, NY passed away on Friday, December 30th at the age of 81. She was born in New York City on January 1, 1935, the daughter of Justino and Julia(Carneiro) Nunes. After her retirement from Sterns in 1999, she moved from Yonkers to Mahopac to be with her son and his Family. She gained employment at Rite Aid. She worked there until her health required her to retire in January of 2016. She loved her job, her co-workers and many regular customers.

She is survived by her son John and his wife Donna, her grandchildren Mario and Rachel, and her brothers George and Walter Nunes.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Monday, January 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 3rd at 11:30 AM at St. John The Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
