Robert E. Detlefsen of Putnam Valley, NY passed away on Thursday January 26, 2017 at the age of 75. He was born in the Bronx on February 27, 1941, the son of Ralph and Lorraine Paquet Detlefsen.

Robert earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Hunter College and served in the Army National Guard. He was a retired chemist with Ciba-Geigy in Ardsley, NY.

Robert was a train enthusiast and was a volunteer at the Danbury, CT Railroad Museum.

On April 2, 1967 he married Ann Holze at Christ the King Church in Yonkers. In addition to Ann, he is survived by his children, Valerie Stole of Carmel, NY, Christopher Detlefsen and his wife Roxanne of Milton, NY, Brian Detlefsen and his wife Christina of Mahopac, Jessica Trzaska and her husband Joseph of West Haven, CT and Brendan Detlefsen and his wife Mary of Poughkeepsie, NY as well as his grandchildren, Hadley, Taryn and Declan.

Visiting will be held on Friday February 3, 2017 from 3-6 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Cremation was held privately.
