Ralph E. Gordineer, a lifelong resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on Monday June 20, 2011. He was 83. He was born in Putnam Valley, NY on April 26, 1928, the son of Robert and Edith Ackerman Gordineer.

Ralph was a 1947 graduate of the Mahopac Central School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at the State University of New York Teachers College at Cortland in 1951 and his Masters in Early Secondary Education at the college in 1960. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict.

Ralph retired in 1986 from the Lakeland School District where he was a Principal. He very much enjoyed cooking and worked part time as a chef at several local eateries. Gardening was also a passion of his, which he enjoyed until the time of his passing.

On November 16, 1952 he married Jan Riechel at the Shrub Oak United Methodist Church. In addition to Jan, he is survived by his daughters, Jane Artwich of Beacon, NY and Jody Gordineer of Mahopac and his grandsons, Eric Hardwick and Russell Artwich.

Visiting will be held on Friday June 24 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday June 25 at 10 am with the Rev. Kenneth H. Mast, Officiating. Private cremation services will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Ralph Gordineer Scholarship Fund, 250 Wood St., Mahopac, NY 10541
