Perla V. Gatchalian of Mahopac, NY passed away on Thursday April 27, 2017 at the age of 75. She was born in Baguio City, Philippines on November 14, 1941, the daughter of Victor Ventigan Sr. and Priscilla Gumawid.

Perla was one of 12 children. She was a strong and independent person who emigrated from the Philippines to Hawaii and became a US citizen.

Perla was an accountant for 30 years with Verizon, starting out on Wall St. in NY City. She loved numbers and politics and enjoyed reading "The Wall Street Journal". She would follow the stock market daily on the financial channels.

Perla was very active with the seniors and attended many functions at the Kohler Center in Mahopac. She loved walking and zumba and she loved flowers and bright colors.

She is survived by her daughter, Marinee Buffone and her husband Frank of Mahopac, her brother Benigno Ventigan of California and her sister Viola Cruz of the Philippines as well as her three beloved grandchildren, Gianna Maria, Amanda Pearl and Francesco Filippo Buffone. Her husband, Ramon died in 2011.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday June 3, 2017 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac. Interment of her cremains will take place at Mililani Mauka Memorial Park in Hawaii in August where she will be reunited with her late husband, Ramon.

Family and friends are welcome to continue a celebration of Perla's life at a repast luncheon to be held in St. John's Social Hall immediately following the funeral mass.
