Mitchell J. Sorge of Somers, NY and formerly of Wappingers Falls, NY passed away on January 16, 2018 at the age of 61. He was born in the Bronx on January 2, 1957, the son of Donald and Marie (Buckley) Sorge. On February 11, 1977 he married Anne Jordan; they were married for 40 years. Mitchell worked for Gumley-Haft in New York City before retiring in 2011.

Mitchell was an avid sports fan and always rooted for the underdog like any true NY Mets fan. He also enjoyed fishing and playing golf. Mitchell's favorite past time, however, was spending time with his grand babies who referred to him as "Happy Pappy".

Mitchell is survived by his wife Anne, his daughter Jenn Gajda and her husband Rob, his daughter Kristine and her husband Kieran, his son Ryan, his mother Marie, and his grandchildren Robbie, Rosie, Mari, and Carrick. He was one of fourteen children and is also survived by eleven of his siblings.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, January 19th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20th at 11:30 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Somers. Committal prayers and cremation will follow at Ferncliff Crematory in Hartsdale, NY.
