Marie A. Hulbert, a 40 year resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on April 16, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born in the Bronx on May 10, 1933, one of seventeen children and the daughter of Michael and Rose (Martucci) Carbone. Marie worked as a bookkeeper for National Shopping Centers in Rye, NY for over 30 years.

Marie lived an energetic and accomplished life. At a young age, she excelled in school where she first learned about business, typing, and secretarial work. She was a member of her high school basketball team and helped to create her school's yearbook. Marie was also the first of her family to graduate from high school.

Later in life Marie continued to be involved in many hobbies while she was a loving wife and mother. Marie was on a recreational bowling team and played tennis with friends. In addition to athletic hobbies, Marie traveled with her sisters and friends to many cities and countries most notably St. Maarten, Italy, and Alaska. She also took pleasure in theatre and music, especially that of Andrea Bocelli whom she saw in concert. Animals were near and dear to Marie's heart too. She loved all animals and treated her dogs like family.

One of Marie's greatest passions was being a devoted grandmother and aunt to many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She enjoyed vacationing with her grandchildren, even traveling with them to Disney World, and was ever present at their sporting events, concerts, and dance recitals. Marie was also the secretary of the Skating Club of Brewster where her granddaughters were members and loved traveling for their competitions.

Marie is survived by her daughter Lisa Carroll and her husband Michael, her sons Brian and Steven, her grandchildren Christina Detz and her husband Brian, Brian, Marie, Nicholas, Paul, David, and James, and her great granddaughter Victoria. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2013.

All are welcome to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 19th from 4-8 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 20th at 10am at St. John The Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. Entombment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
