Karen Butterfield of Mahopac, NY passed away on Monday March 27, 2017 at the age of 74. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 12, 1943, the daughter of Sidney and Harriet Prue Hersch.

Karen was the secretary at the First Presbyterian Church in Mahopac Falls where she was a member and sang in the church choir. She was an active participant in Relay for Life and served as the caregiver chair. Among her hobbies, she had a green thumb and loved gardening as well as being a good cook.

She is survived by her daughters, Yoon Mee Zhang and her husband, Donald of Marlboro, MA and Katherine Peterson and her fiancé Andy of New Fairfield, CT; her sisters Valerie Rhoda and Joanne Nicholas and her grandchildren Zachary, Connor, Henry, Luke and Lily.

Visiting will be held on Friday March 31, 2017 from 3-7 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 1 at 10 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Mahopac Falls. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
