John Sanseverino, of Palm Coast, FL, formerly of Mahopac, NY, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on April 11, 1935, in Cirigliano, Italy to Francesco Sanseverino and Giuseppina Tombone. He immigrated to America in 1951 and then returned to Italy to marry Lucia (Lucy) Iosca on November 12, 1952 in Stigliano, Italy. They soon after came to America where they settled in Yonkers, NY.

He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 137 for 35 years, where he was employed as a Master Mechanic before retiring in 2000. He will always be remembered for being an extremely hard worker who was highly respected in the field of construction and machinery for his knowledge and expertise.

John's family was always first and he loved his children and grandchildren immensely. He was a wonderful, generous, compassionate man who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Lucia (Lucy), he is survived by his five children, Angela, Frank, Rocco, Michael and Rosemary. He is predeceased by a son, John Jr. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, two older sisters and many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday May 3 from 4-8 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday May 4 at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church in Mahopac with interment to follow at Union Valley Cemetery.
