Helene L. Vallon passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the age of 88. She was born in Brooklyn on June 16, 1929, the daughter of Harry and Anna Braunhart Tulman.

Helene had a great aptitude for business, which she learned from her parents while working at their hardware store as a young girl. She worked in various positions, mostly financial, after raising her daughters. After retiring to San Diego, CA in 1988, she returned to New York in 2009.

She is survived by her daughters, Mona S. Vallon (predeceased by Ron) of San Diego, Arlene R. Vallon-Putnam (Chris) of Montclair, NJ and Heidi Vallon (Gary) of Mahopac, NY. She is also survived by her grandson, Julian C. Putnam and her niece, Martha L. Zucker.

Helene was sincerely interested in people and embraced all she'd meet with a warm and welcoming smile. From her roots in Brooklyn to the various places she called home, she made friends where ever she roamed. Her circle of friends was wide, and many of those friends quickly became her extended family, whom she loved dearly.

Helene's zest for life and positive attitude even during life's adversities was a hallmark of her strength. She genuinely appreciated even the smallest act of kindness with a grateful heart. Helene was passionate about animals, especially dogs who were her faithful companions.

Her family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at The Kensington and at White Plains Hospital for the excellent care she received in her later years.

A Celebration of Helene's Life will be announced at a later date.

Cremation Services were private. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Helene's memory be made to charities that promote heart and stroke research and care, which played a vital role in Helene's life or to a charity of your choice.
