Greta E. Upham, a long time resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on Thursday, March 30th at the age of 88. She was born in the Bronx on December 23, 1928, the daughter of Albin and Eleanor (Sars) Johnson. On May 20, 1950 she married John Graham Upham; they were married for over 52 years before his passing in 2002.

Greta was dedicated to others and held herself with dignity and grace. The love she shared with not only her husband but her whole family was a testament to the kindness of her soul. She was well respected for her leadership talents and very active in the community. Volunteering was her lifeblood, as she held offices in the Mahopac Falls Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5491, and the Putnam Hospital Center Auxiliary and Vasa (Swedish-American Lodge); she was past president of them all.

Greta is survived by her children Bruce Upham and his wife Kathy, John G. Upham II and Fiancé Cathy, Jill Terhune and her husband Charlie, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren, with another on the way.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Sunday, April 2nd from 1-5 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY; her funeral service will begin at 4:15PM, also at the funeral home. A private cremation and inurnment will follow at Ballard Barrett Cemetery at a later date.
