Douglas L. Hyatt, a lifelong resident of Mahopac Falls, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2018 surrounded by his family; he was 82 years old. He was born in Mahopac, NY on August 6, 1936, the son of James and Clara(Head) Hyatt.

Doug was a 64 year life member of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department and served as a past president and vice president, as well as a past president of the Board of Directors. During his tenure, he received a Proclamation of Public Recognition from the sitting Putnam County Executive.

Doug is survived by his wife Barbara, his daughter Sharon Blichfeldt and her husband Craig, his son David Hyatt and his wife Peggie, grandson Alex Hyatt and his wife Jennifer, grandson Thomas Hyatt and his wife Sarah; and three great grandchildren Jace, Gavin, and Caleb. He was predeceased by his siblings James Hyatt, Marian Sprague, Helen Eastwood, Viola Benjamin, Shirley Sweet, and Mildred Austin.

Friends and family are welcome to attend a visitation on Tuesday, December 18th from 4-8 PM at the Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 19th at 10 AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ballard Barrett Cemetery in Mahopac Falls.
