Dorothy Papazian, a lifelong resident of Mahopac, NY passed away on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the age of 83. She was born in Brooklyn on June 6, 1934, the daughter of George and Adrienne Tashjian.

Dorothy graduated from Mahopac High School and earned her Associates Degree at Westchester Community College.

Dorothy had a genuine love for her community. You could be guaranteed to see her at least once a year on Election Day when for 42 years she served as the Chairperson for the District Voter Registry for the Mahopac Board of Education. This was a position she took over from her Mother.

On May 25, 1958 she married William A. Papazian. In addition to her loving husband of almost 60 years, she is survived by her sons, William, his wife Arpineh and their children Anahit and Andranik; Robert, his wife Liz and their children Mia and Madlen; George, his wife Stephanie and their children Meline, Audrey and Grace; and her daughter Adrienne Papazian and her husband Gary Zylkuski. Her brother, Richard Tashjian predeceased her in 2015.

Visiting will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 from 11 am to 1 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 pm at Ballard-Barrett Cemetery, Mahopac Falls.
