David F. Doner, Jr. of Mahopac, NY passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the age of 76 after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He was born on October 18, 1940 in Queens, NY to David and Adelaide (Springer) Doner, Sr. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from St. John's University in 1962 and went on for his Masters at New York University. On June 1, 1963, he married his high school sweetheart Lillian "Honey" Bucalo; they were married for over 53 years. Dave worked as a Computer Programmer for IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY before retiring in 1993. After a three week "retirement", he went on to work as a Software Engineer at Cisco Systems, Inc. until 1999.

Dave had a brilliant mind and generously shared his knowledge. He was well respected, extremely humble, and had a wonderful, albeit dry, sense of humor.

Dave is survived by his wife Honey; daughters Joyce (John) Ferraro of North Salem, NY and Nancy (Brian) Haberly of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren Justin, Matthew and Lisa; his sisters Jeanette Mann and Margaret Shelton and their families.

Family and friends are welcome at the visitation on Friday, April 7th from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home in Mahopac, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, April 8th at 10 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, also in Mahopac. A private cremation will follow services.
