Davey Jean Beska passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Monday, April 23, 2018, one day shy of her 90th birthday. She was born in Birmingham, Alabama on April 24, 1928, the daughter of Paul and Polly Snell.

Davey served proudly in many volunteer fire service organizations both locally and statewide. She served as president of the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, was the charter president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Putnam County Volunteer Fireman's Association; served as the charter vice president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hudson Valley Volunteer Fireman's Association; the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fireman's Association of the State of New York and she served as a member of the Hudson Valley Parade Judges Association.

Esteemed honorary memberships include the Greene County Volunteer Fire Association, the Royal Order of Blue Vests and the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department, where she served as a dispatcher in the 1970's, when the fire telephone was answered in someone's home prior to today's dispatch methods.

Davey was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mahopac Falls and was active in Girl Scouting for many years.

Davey was a longtime resident of Mahopac and had recently moved to Brewster, NY to live with her daughter. On October 3, 1948 she married John Richard Beska in Bayside, NY. "Dick" passed away on December 19, 1987. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Jean Beska of Chester, NY, Barbara Beska Borowitz (Hans) of Wappingers Falls, NY and Paula Beska Malara of Brewster, her son, David Beska (Patti) of Myrtle Beach, SC; her grandchildren, Rebecca (Ray), Rachel (Michael), John, Bryan, David Jr. (Jamie), Andrew (Rachel), Leanne (James), Johnna (Ernesto) and Danielle (David); and her great grandchildren, Dominick, Sabrina, Emma, Michaela, Lucas, Ronan, AlexaRae and Zachary. She was predeceased by her son,
John Richard "Ricky" Beska Jr. who died in 1984.

Visiting will be held on Thursday, April 26 and Friday, April, 27 from 3-8 pm at Joseph J. Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 28 at 10 am at the funeral home with interment to follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Putnam Valley, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Davey may be made to the Mahopac Falls Volunteer Fire Department or to the Fireman's Home of the State of NY.
