Barbara A. Rohrbach of Somers, NY passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 1, 2018. She was 83. Barbara was born in Troy, NY the daughter of Kyle Forrest and Alice Frank. On November 12, 1955 she married Robert L. Rohrbach in East Williston, NY. They were married for over 62 years.

Barbara graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She then obtained her BSN from Mercy College in 1979. Barbara had a distinguished nursing career that spanned more than 30 years.

The Rohrbachs moved to Heritage Hills in Somers, NY in 1998 from Thornwood, NY where they lived and raised their four daughters for 31 years. While living at Heritage Hills, Barbara was very active in the Health and Safety Committee. She and Robert ran the flu shot program there for many years.

Barbara loved animals, playing bridge with lifelong friends, attending the opera, and spending time with her grandchildren. Barbara and Robert enjoyed vacationing in Martha's Vineyard, MA, a passion they passed along to their children.

In addition to her husband Robert, Barbara is survived by her four daughters Karen (Glenn) Cestaro, Nancy (Steven) Trombetta, Ellen (Brian) Parise, and Sarah (Martel) Meyer; her siblings Susan McLachlan and William Forrest; and her grandchildren Jacqueline Cestaro, Michael and Caitlin Parise, and Francesca and Benjamin Trombetta.

At Barbara's request, all funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in her name to the St. Luke's Center for Public and Professional Education at the Foundation of NYS Nurses. Donations can be accepted online at or donations can be mailed to: Foundation of NYS Nurses, 2113 Western Avenue, Guilderland, NY 12084. Please include the following statement with your donations..."These funds are to be designated to the St. Luke's Center for Public and Professional Education in honor of Barbara Rohrbach."
