Anthony S. "Tony" Guarente of Yorktown Heights, NY died on June 18, 2018 at the age of 73. He was born on September 20, 1944 in the Bronx, the son of Anthony and Anna (Mazzella) Guarente. On May 11, 2012, he married Mary Mazzoni in Mahopac, NY. Tony and Mary are retired teachers of the New York City school system.

Throughout his life, Tony had a passion for learning, for literature (from Shakespeare to DC Comics), for movies, for history and civics, for the Yankees and for good calamari. He was an all-time character and entertained everyone he met with his storytelling finesse and indefatigable sense of humor (that included a spot-on Marlon Brando impression). He had a big heart that he shared with everyone. But most of all, he had a devotion to his family that never ended.

Tony is survived by his loving wife Mary, his sons Gabe and John, and his daughter-in-law Neha; his siblings Lucy Hoffman, Gabriel Guarente, and Angela Aixala; his granddaughter Avni and his stepson John. He was predeceased by his first wife Calliopi, his brother Joe, and his sister MaryAnn Berenguer.

All are welcome to attend visitations on Thursday, June 21st and Friday, June 22nd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 23rd at 11:30 AM at St. John The Evangelist Church in Mahopac. Interment will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.
