Posted by: Sheri Anderdon - Somers, NY - Friend   Jan 13, 2018

I am deeply saddened by the irreplaceable loss of a great friend, an inspiring colleague and an amazing mentor, simply an extraordinary person who made a big impact on everyone and everything he touched.
I was privileged enough to meet Modest in early stages of my IBM life and to get to know him better as years progressed. He was my manager and mentor for nine years, and I can easily say that those were some of the best years

The opportunity to work with Modest was truly a privilege. His enthusiasm for the theoretical and pragmatic dimensions of science, and how it could make the world a better place, was truly contagious. He embodied the best characteristics of being an IBMer and will be missed.

Wishing comfort and peace to his family at this most difficult time of loss.

Modest, I will always remember you as the most enthusiastic, positive and forward looking person I had the privilege to work with. Those years at IBM under your leadership will always remain as my best years.

It was with great sadness that I learned of Modest's sudden illness and passing. I worked with Modest for many years, some of the most productive I have had, and along the way grew to have great respect for him as an individual, a world class scientist, and as one of the most able members of my team. I just want to offer my condolences as well as those of the many of us in IBM with whom he worked. He will be missed by all.

My deepest condolences to Modest's family on this very sad day. With no exaggeration Modest was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. His support, encouragement, enthusiasm, and friendship through the ups and downs over the years at IBM after hiring me into his group in 1996 were invaluable to both myself and anyone else fortunate enough to have met and worked with him. I will never forget the many good memories and experiences with

For a little over a year, Modest was a client of mine. It was with great sadness that I learned of his illness and then his passing; please accept my heartfelt condolences. Modest was an amazing, kind and brilliant man. I last saw him in August when we attended the Red Sox game at Fenway Park such a fun day we had. I smile when I think of that day he was working on a mathematical calculation to predict the
